THE GAUTENG FILM COMMISSION TAKES FILM FESTIVE TO KASI

Johannesburg: This week, the Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) kickstarted its #FILMFESTIVE campaign which aims to revive the filming spirit in Gauteng’s peri-urban areas.

The campaign is in line with Gauteng Premiere, Panyaza Lesufi’s mandate to take youth development and entrepreneurship to Townships, Informal Settlements, and Hostels (TISH).

The campaign started on 18 December with a pre-World Cup final youth public screening of the Gift Leremi documentary produced by Mfanelo Ngoma in Kagiso. It was followed by a screening visit to Jehova Jirah Orphanage, in Soshanguve, Pretoria, and Leamogetswe Safety Home in Saulsville.

The campaign will continue to Tshepisong, Orange Farm, Thembisa, and Diepsloot.

“We are excited to revive the filming spirit amongst our youth who oftentimes find themselves bored and disengaged during this time. Through film, we are able to cultivate their interest, harness their energy, and stimulate them mentally,” said Ms Keitumetse Lebaka, GFC CEO.
