Strong SA presence at the AFCI Locations Expo in LA

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) and a South African delegation comprising the Department of Trade and Industry (Dti), Gauteng Film Commission, Durban Film Office and Cape Film Commission attended this year’s AFCI Locations Expo. The AFCI Locations Expo is held in Santa Monica, California annually in April and is dedicated to the promotion of global locations for film, TV and commercials production, with the SA delegation marketing the country as a leading centre for film production.

In April a high-powered SA delegation was in Hollywood to teach these clever Californians, wait for it, how to make films. OK, the broader subject was how to take maximum advantage of the unique combination of circumstances, climate, location, talent, regulation and incentives that make Gauteng the unbeatable bargain of the filmic world. Two of the most popular are in all probability the MIP’s – MIPTV (April) and MIPCOM, (October) – in Cannes France, both of which attract a huge number of exhibiters and thousands of participants from all over the world.
