Word from the Chief Executive

Piracy remains a major concern for our local industry. We are therefore heartened to see efforts by the South African Federation Against Copyright Theft (SAFACT), working in partnership with law enforcement agencies, to clamp down on pirated material in our province.

In our 2010 feature we update you on crew training initiatives as well as plans by the SABC to introduce a dedicated radio sports channel for 2010. Our location feature of the month continues with our 2010 theme as we look at sports stadia. While certain stadia will be off limits to non accredited media during key Confederation Cup and 2010 World Cup matches, Gauteng enjoys an abundance of sports precincts that will still be accessible for location shoots during these periods.

In this edition we also launch a new monthly feature, Emerging Hot Shots, looking at the thoughts and aspirations of young professionals entering  or new to the industry.

Our production updates this month take a look at the White Lion as well as new local TV series Family Bonds.

See you at the Out in Africa film festival!

Terry Tselane
Chief Executive
