Production Support
Funding for production concepts for All film formats except reality shows. Concepts should raise consciousness in our communities, cover heritage, display strength, originality and uniqueness of the story idea. Production creative concepts should be aligned to GFC themes i.e. positive stories and objectively promote patriotism and Telling of compelling positive SA stories). Should be well-researched with insights that will make it plausible to its intended audience.
In the case of documentaries applicants may submit a detailed outline instead of a script but must provide proof of consent from the subject/s and participants in the project.

Production Evaluation
The Gauteng Film Commission evaluates all applications for development funding utilising the following criteria
- Premise – Has the applicant provided a coherent and engaging argument for the telling of a particular story?
- Character – Has the applicant created characters that are three dimensional, with clear backstories and engaging story goals?
- Structure – Does the applicant demonstrate a complete grasp of structure, whether it consists of one, two, three or more acts?
- World of Story – Has the applicant provided a world that has been well-researched with insights that will make it plausible to its intended audience?
