The Gauteng Film Commission (GFC) participated in AVIJOZI 2025, held from 13 -14 September at Summer Place, Hyde Park, Johannesburg, under the theme “Heart of steel.” AVIJOZI has solidified its position as Africa’s foremost free-access festival, serving as a dynamic convergence point for creative industries, including Film Production, Artificial Intelligence, Animation, Visual Effects (VFX), Interactive Technology, Gaming, Comics, and Content Development. This pioneering event embodies the fusion of creativity and cutting-edge technology, cementing its legacy as a premier platform for innovation and collaboration on the continent.

Over the two dynamic days, GFC engaged in the conference programmes, which featured high-impact networking, business meetings, and showcases of the organization’s products, services, and creative opportunities. The festival’s highlights featured stimulating panel discussions and workshops where experts delved into themes such as storytelling, the ascendance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the effects of digital colonialism. AVIJOZI pulsed with chances for cooperation, unearthing new talent, and probing fresh commercial pathways. Further fueling the energy, exhibitions and showcases unveiled cutting-edge products, distinctive content, and imaginative prospects cutting across diverse industry segments.
