Gauteng, South Africa — January 2026 Call for film submissions!
D-Tour Experience, in partnership with the Gauteng Film Commission, has officially launched the Gauteng Film Screening Experiences, a community-focused film exhibition initiative aimed at creating access and visibility for independent local filmmakers.
The initiative calls on community and independent filmmakers based in Gauteng to submit completed films for consideration. Three (3) films will be selected to be showcased as part of a series of community screenings taking place in Soweto, Alexandra and Diepsloot. Preference will be given to filmmakers from these areas.
The Gauteng Film Screening Experiences seek to address the lack of distribution and exhibition platforms for many local filmmakers by taking films directly into communities. Each selected film will be allocated a screening venue, either at a school or a partnered public space, ensuring accessibility and community engagement.
D-Tour Experience is known for its extensive audience development work across Gauteng Province, having partnered with institutions such as Drama for Life at the University of the Witwatersrand, Sibikwa Arts Centre, and Luthando Arts Academy to name but a few. Through these partnerships, the organisation has curated arts experiences that connect audiences to theatres, museums, arts centres, festivals, and cultural events.
This project builds on D-Tour Experience’s mission to create, grow, and sustain audiences, while expanding its audience development work into the film sector.
