Producers from Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, the UK and the USA are in Johannesburg to help boost the South African film industry.

A B2B session has been setup to give local companies the chance to engage with the visiting delegation.

Supporting partners include the Department of Trade and Industry (the DTI), NFVF, and the Gauteng Tourism Authority.

The DTI invited prominent film and television producers to apply for the planned Inward Investment Mission (IIM) to South Africa aimed at promoting co-productions in animated series, feature films, documentaries and television series.

The IIM will also promote South Africa’s film industry landscape and showcase film content, infrastructure, talent and vast shooting locations to international producers. The trade mission is part of the DTI’s objective to promote South Africa’s Film service offerings, attracting co-production opportunities in order to grow the sector.

An invitation to apply was extended to International Film Producers, Production and Broadcasting Houses, Animation Studios and Houses, Acquisition and Distribution companies who are:

  • Experienced filmmakers who have a proven track record for developing and producing 3-5 theatrically released feature films, animation, television fiction and/or non-fiction.
  • Sales and distribution houses that have acquired and sold more 3-5 theatrical feature films, television fiction and/or non-fiction, +5 short films and/or commercials in the past two years
  • Delegates Biographies are available on request.
