Valentine Gaudin-Muteba, VP: Channels & Operations at TRACE, with Kgomotso Tabane and Yoza MnyandaThe GFC and TRACE Southern Africa partnered to celebrate Women’s month in August 2017, launching a campaign Women Creatives to celebrate women in film and five women were chosen to produce short films.

Five Gauteng based young women successfully created short-form stories focusing on urban African music, art, food and lifestyle. These stories have been centered on TRACE Southern Africa’s first eventing property called #TRACERoots.

The filmmakers – Abigail Zikhali, Nadine Kutu, Nthabiseng Mosieane, Nontobeko Gumede and Yoza Mnyanda – were chosen for their ability to tell compelling stories in short form and delivering these against a tight deadline, as is generally expected of creatives in the fast-paced urban entertainment landscape, said TRACE Southern Africa.

Yoza Mnyanda won amongst the 5 candidates after a public vote, and she has been given an opportunity to tell a funded 20 minute urban youth documentary of her own choosing.

Tune in to TRACE Urban on DStv channel 325 and TRACE Africa on DStv channel 326 as well as TRACE’s social media platforms to see the beautiful pieces the women have created thus far: TRACESouthern Africa on Facebook , @TRACE_Inter and @TRACEAfrica_ on Twitter and @tracesouthafrica and @traceafrica_ on Instagram.
