gfc2 250In the third quarter of the 2017/18 financial year, the GFC supported five projects ranging from production, post production to distribution. The companies supported vary from established to emerging production companies with projects in documentary, feature film, licensed short films, online and DVD distribution. The GFC strives to support and reach varied productions in the Gauteng province. The following projects were supported:

Parole Camp – Rebel Pictures

A documentary feature film that chronicles the journey of three parolees released from Pollsmoor Prison through the realistic rehabilitation program that takes place at a camp in Ncamakwe, Eastern. The documentary seeks to alert young people in schools that crime does not pay, it further seeks to encourage young people to stay in school. It is GFC`s plans that we partner with the department of education to roll out screenings in schools.

Alone – Alone Films PTY Ltd

Alone is a psychological horror in the vein of Roman Polanski and Guillermo del Torro. It is set in South Africa with horror and fantasy scenes of a monster that is attacking the little girl versus the reality that Busi has worked so hard to repress being raped sporadically by her own father in her own bed. The film will be released through SterKinekor and distributed by Indigenous Film Distributors.

The family that lost its dignity – Make it happen productions

A story about a young man whose father impregnates his best friend, this leads him to the usage of illegal substances such as Nyaope. Bad luck continues to follow him as his mother subsequently dies and his father serves time in jail charged with statutory rape.

Thesha – Lamusement Park
Lamusement Park is a production company based in the Ekhurhuleni region, their main focus is to produce and distribute their content online. Thesha is a series of 10 minute short films that will be licensed by XP Africa. Thesha aims to reach not only the South African market but the entire African community throughout the diaspora. Its target is to reach about 10 000 school kids around Africa. The GFC production support will go towards post production.

The Revenge reloaded – Distribution

The GFC supported Amazon entertainment for the distribution of their DVD in Gauteng. Amazon Entertainment is an up and coming music group that is well known in most Gauteng regions. Entertainment by local known artists will be rendered to draw crowds and buyers whilst foot soldiers will be utilised to distribute the DVDs. DVDs will be distributed at taxi ranks, train stations, shopping malls, as well as door to door.
