SAE Institute is looking for a passionate and qualified 2D animation lecturer to join their creative academic team. The purpose of this role is to teach frame-by-frame and cut-out 2D animation and inspire young minds at our Cape Town campus.
Responsibilities: Execute the normal day-to-day demands of facilitation in accordance with the learning outcomes as set for the SAE program, with a focus on practical application, theoretical frameworks, workflow, and technique. Mentor students, conduct consultations, and facilitate learning opportunities. Research relevant content in order to develop learning material and lesson plans. Evaluation, moderation, invigilation, and assessment of learning. Keep accurate records of evidence. Adhere to SAE policies and procedures. Other related tasks as assigned by the HOA.
Experience, Education, and Competency: Minimum NQF Level 8 qualification (BA Honours) in relevant field Experience in the field of 2D animation of a minimum of 2 years preferred. Experience in classroom management and workshop facilitation skills in an academic or training environment of a minimum of 2 years is preferred. Demonstrate knowledge and experience in 2D traditional animation (hand-drawn, frame-by-frame) and relevant software (preferably Adobe software suite, particularly Photoshop and possibly Adobe Animate (or similar 2D animation software) Demonstrate knowledge and experience in 2D cut-out animation and relevant software (preferably Toonboom Harmony Premium) Skills in storyboarding, 2D asset creation/concept art (for games), or motion graphics is an additional requirement. Must have a body of work that demonstrates competency in 2D animation. Possess communication, interpersonal skills, and administration skills, be organised, and possess good time management skills. Collaborative and willing to work with fellow lecturers and the HOA to support students.
